“D” for digging graves

Letter “D” story challenge (idea from “frizztext“)

Vester Sottrup Church in southern Jutland (a part of Denmark),
not far from the border to Germany.
was german territory in the period 1864-1920
most people there are / were 2 languages speakers
a major part of the childhood was spent there
and I passed the church, both on way to school, to soccer or to shop.

to dig graves have nothing to do with churches or death in this context

but a version of the saying: “If you dig a grave for others, you may fall into it yourself”

To had the right and getting the right
it may be two different things
some are more interested in getting the right than to have it
maybe a matter of honor.

It is also often easier to get things go your way, if you let others get the glory
because many cares more about that, than thing goes as they wish.

So if you have a plan or idea burning inside you
then find someone who are burning inside for getting the glory
then you will succeed in it

otherwise you may dig your own grave.

  1. Its so true one always reaps what one sows..you cant be happy if all you have done is spread destruction..beautiful message..lovely shots Ledrake..
    love you poignant posts 🙂

  2. So thought provoking Drake. I may have to ponder this one a bit. Indeed, one actions does determine the path one will travel. If positive, the route is pleasant and encourages growth. Thanks for making me think Drake !

As one shouts into the woods, one get a reply back the same way (danish saying) – in my jobs as business manager it’s clearly to me, that you have to ‘sell’ your projects, so those should do the function feel for it as it was nearby their own – so you often get an excellent job done – and I would act same way my self… 😉

Thanks for your sweet words… 😉

      Thanks,appreciate… 😉

That building is just so beautiful, I’ve always think that
      – both looking at it closely and looking at it far far away… 😉

  3. YOU:

    I:
    Different things motivate different people.
Some are motivated by the almost always exciting process of reaching a desired goal.
Some are motivated by the desired Prize.

Combine these two kinds of motivation, and I think, you will have the beginning of a very properous and beautiful friendship, with no room for gravediggers.

Although – considering the say, “Better Safe, Than Sorry!” –
Remember to read every letter of the cooperation agreement before you sign! :–D

‘hahaha’ – you make me think of one of my old favorites – Michelle “of the Resistance” Dubois (Kirsten Cooke) – leader of the local “French Charles de Gaulle (the one with the big ‘ooter) Resistance” at the “Allo Allo” – “Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once”… 😉

      ‘hahaha’
      ….

I think we much agree about this issue and – if “combine these two kinds of motivation, and I think, you will have the beginning of a very properous and beautiful friendship, with no room for gravediggers” – many many relationsships work that way… 😉

      • Bingo!
I am very much like the nice Michelle “of the Resistance” Dubois.
(At least, I once had a hat like hers, only orange)
A very dedikated person with so many chores and so little time. 😀

There’re so many wonderful personal characteristics in this “Allo Allo” – if one were to be mention – no it impossible to do that… ‘hahaha’

In many cultures, towers are very important – not least in terms of prestige – but it’s usually,or always, what you see first when you come to a new location – usually before the sounds and the scents… 😉

      – even before the mosquitoes find you… ‘hahaha’

  4. “hahaha” – avec @ 55 je ne savais pas… 😉

Sur internet, je pense qu’il est facile d’attirer l’attention de ses opinions au moyen de signes… 😉

  5. 🙂 would you mind if I share a quote with you? I know it in English though it was originally in French… “the need to be right is a sign of a vulgar mind”. Shall we translate it back to French? Please tell me if you like it? 😉

  6. Aquí decimos ” No te rías del mal del vecino, que el tuyo viene de camino”, espero que el traductor lo haga bien, jajajajaja
Me encanta el sitio donde te has criado, has sido muy afortunado, un lugar bellísimo, besos

Yes agree, the area around the danish – german borderline is beautiful… 😉

and the understanding for each other is great on both sides of the border…

The saying you mention is also known in danish… ‘hahaha’

  7. Totally agree Ledrake! By the way we have been watching reruns of Allo Allo and are surprised by how hilarious it still seems! Used to be our favourite show oh so many years ago 🙂
