Aarhus, the danish “vice capital city”
the tower of the city hall and the tower clock
photographed 2 times last week with a few days between
the first on arrival from the airport
the latest just before the storm and heavy snowfall
on the way back to the airport.
Aarhus City Hall – it was inaugurated 1941,
it was drawn by the 2 famours danish architects Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller
as one of just a few danish city halls, it was marked for preservation (in 1994)
because of its unique architecture.
On the first proposal the plans didn’t include a tower, but due to massive public pressure
it was later added to the drawings.
The building is made of integrated cast concrete
the exterior is clad with 6000 m² marble slabs from Porsgrunn in Norway.
Which have a significant impact on the building
because light and marble manages “mood” of the building.

This theme is really a travel (over time) theme
with inspiration from Ailsa’s excellent blog
take a look the challenge here “Where’s my backpack”
this’s my version of the theme “Time”.

Great story and what a remarkable building, as for time, i try from time to time, not to waste it. 🙂

Thanks – the inhabitants of Aarhus are always opposed to new “charismatic” construction works in their town – then when the buildings are constructed so they are very proud and have never wanted anything else – so it is the ols story almost everytime and so it was when the town hall was built back in the late 30s and early 40s – now it is one of the city’s most popular buildings and everyone are very proud of the town hall… 🙂
Love the contrasts of the two days Drake. Appropriate post for me today as I’m lounging around having a very slow start to the day.

Thanks, really appreciate your words… 🙂
Interesting building and Post! Got me thinking, Drake! So, having a good time, I spent some time writing this bit of fun for you. 🙂
“Time After Time” I think I’m just “Lookin’ For A Good Time” because “Time Is On My Side”. Yet, “As Time Goes By” I wonder “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?”
Then I think OMG “Funny How Time Slips Away” so please “Love Me Two Times” because there’s “No Time”, and that’s “Time In A Bottle”

Wonderful comment, which made me think
and to look for a clever answer too… 😉
Good old Albert Einstein said “The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once” – maybe he was right… 🙂
Hahaha! Good old Albert E. 🙂 I can’t imagine what everything happening at once would be like …. could you imagine?
I’m very good at creating pandemonium, but that would be beyond my abilities. 🙂
Plus, I’m so glad you liked my comment, I did spend some time for you, and it was lots of fun! 😉 xo
Yeah Albert was a clever guy… 😉
Even I had been boss for more than 20 years
so I don’t think I could make things happens at once… “lol”
It was really a great comment, I love when have to think (not always fast)… “lol”
🙂 I love when my mind is appreciated! “lol” Don’t worry how long a reply takes!
You’re adorable! xo – Resa
You’re sweet, much too sweet… “lol” 😉
I love the quote: “Time we enjoy wasting is not wasted time“

I really like this architure too… 🙂
Some years ago I met a tourist just above the tower – he asked me if danish workmen was a bit lazy – because he had visited the city about 20 years ago and at that time was the “building frame” around the tower already there – he didn’t believe the tower was completed yet… 😉
wow! the first photo is great!!! 🙂
have a nice day
