The old local village fire station, “water spray houses” they were called
from the time before yesterday, much before yesterday
the operation went on manually by use of a wagon with a pump lever
that was the time before self-propelled fire engines and automatic pumps.
If caught fire in a house in the village, then ran the villagers to this house
then they pulled the wagon by hand to the burning building
on this wagon, there was a tank of a few hundred liters of water
couldn’t just call for help, because at that time the phone wasn’t invented yet.
The effect of this fire engine was (at present eyes) not impressive
most buildings also burnt down, if there was a fire
it was all about that the fire didn’t spread to neighboring buildings
car fires it is not known at the time, cars weren’t invented yet
…..
Great story. 🙂

Thanks, really appreciates – the locals take care of this little piece of their history – so the old small “fire station” is well kept… 🙂
I think that’s a good thing, to keep pieces of history together. 🙂
Agree with you… 🙂
I liked the story a lot ……..but what a photo!

Really glad you like it, thanks a lot… 😉
Fascinating post, Drake! It’s sad that its function was so limited. The building of last resort and more often than not it would fall short.

Thanks, it was the opportunities at that time,
even small even small fires could be fatal or was it actually…
This is a really interesting post, photo and story Drake. I love how resourceful they were in times of need.

Thanks, yes time is really changed… 🙂
I like this little piece of history from your part of the world Drake. It’s interesting how they kept it together to remember who they were. Also a good remember for us in the present not to take things for granted 🙂

Agree with you, our history can really in a way be a part of our future – we shall not live in the past at all, but by remembering it or to know it – it can help us in the future too… 😉
