An almost 29 years old image, later this month
taken the night before the parents’ silver wedding anniversary
family, friends and neighbors gather in “secret” to make an arch of honor
which is a danish tradition on special occasions like this.

The photographer is unknown, since my camera was on the workbench for free use by all
the subject is “Le Drake” and one of his father’s old friends Erik
he is dead now, actually years ago – but would have been 75 years exactly this week
but it is not the theme of this post.

We have / had known each other since I was very young
after I had left home as 16 year old, so I met him maybe once a year
it was that kind of person – you could almost start the conversation again
almost in line with the last sentence of perhaps one year ago.

It makes me think that in relation to some people
in a way “so time stands still” – between each time you meet.

Perhaps a sharp contrast to the reality of today ..?

Where an hour with no connection to Facebook or mobile phone
feels similar to a matter of life or death.

  1. Superificial contacts and shallow conversation – this is the outcome of the availability of connection today. I remember seeing a photo of this same street before 🙂

  2. ciao! it is indeed frightening that as technology has become part of our existence, we actually share more but of little relevance. we are stressed when our computers or cells are inaccessible. stressed to connect but void of depth. it’s just the best knowing those individuals that we can connect with, and that the time between, is just space. your personal post carries weight.

  3. Meaningful post, well written. I agree, I have many friends of whom this is true and yes I would drop everything to help if they asked, because they would do the same for me. We don’t need constant contact but when we meet it is an loud talkative occasion.

Thanks a lot, glad you like it – really appreciate your words… 🙂

Agree with you – maybe we could say that real freindship is to be at the right place at the right time… 🙂

  4. Wow! So this charming young man were you? I wish I would meet you in those days… 😉
The post is interesting, you make me know a danish tradition, and I agree with you: what a contrast! It is true also that “in relation to some people time stands still”, only people who were special in some way for us. Have a great week-end Drake!

  5. A very poetic post, Le Drake.
I know this relationship that just picks up where it left off as I have a few. Also, you have just given me another reason not to join Facebook. 🙂 🙂 😎
….and aren’t you adorable in the pic, although obviously it was taken before you grew feathers. _Resa xo
