The railway system seems apparently very simple
trains run on rails from station to station.
Okay there are sometimes problems with schedules
and maybe snow in the winter or leaves in the fall on the tracks
but apart this then it should be very simple, isn’t it true ..?
That is until you see the many mazes of tracks – really intricate
what kind of people brains are architects of these ..?
The train drivers must be heroic and brave knights
in our modern world then are the shifts of the tracks computerized
but in the good old days when it was manually human work
maybe the heroes of the past, who with long rods did the job with virtuosity.
“My mind rebels at stagnation
so give me problems
so give me work
so give me the most abstruse cryptogram
or the most intricate analysis
and I am in my own proper atmosphere.
but I abhor the dull routine of existence
I crave for mental exaltation”
(Arthur Conan Doyle – british writer)

This one I really enjoyed – those mazes of tracks are fascinating! Especially to compare the way they use to be and how much the world has developed. Don’t you agree there is something really beautiful about the simplicity of the old tracks, Drake?
And ACD has got it just about right, if you ask me 🙂

You’re right I agree ACD did a very very good job… 🙂 🙂
Isn’t it amazing that humans can build something like this and it works..? 🙂 🙂
Brilliant post, Drake – I love your rail shots. 🙂 Have you read Railsea by China Meilville?

Thanks a lot, glad you like it – really appreciates… 🙂
No I haven’t, but now I will look for it… 🙂
Det er nogle spændende billeder, Drake! Har du haft en modeljernbane 🙂
Mange hilsner,

Ja det havde jeg faktisk – jeg byggede den og min lillebror legede med den – jeg var mere fascineret af opbygningen og han var mest interesseret i at togene kørte – så det var perfekt… 🙂
Nåh! Hvor hyggeligt, Drake. Dejlig historie 🙂
Oh my, I hope you did not put yourself in danger to take these shots ;). A clever post, indeed!

I never tell my mum everything I do… ‘hahaha’ 🙂 😉
Your poor mum ….
‘hahaha’ – she is the best mum I ever have and the only one… 🙂 🙂 😉
This is a great post, Drake! Yes, the railways are very “intricate” as well as the mental “rails”: great comparison! I am a fun of si A. Conan Doyle and I appreciate very much the quote, especially, that, like him, “I abhor the dull routine of existence “… but unfortunately we have to accept it most of the times. 😉 Have a nice evening.

Thanks a lot, glad you like it – really appreciate your words… 🙂
Agree with you about AC Doyle, I like his writing too… 🙂
Oh my! Cannot imagine that maze being handled manually!! Shall have to check if all our lines are computerised! You might have put me off train travel for a while Ledrake 🙂
And oh yes, fab captures! 🙂
Thanks a lot, really appreciates… 🙂
Ohh what have I done… 🙂 😉
I wouldn’t be the man who dares handled that maze manually, no thanks… “lol”
Brilliant! Remarkable link of the track and the intricate. I crave for mental exaltation — Wow! Great post, Drake!

Thanks a lot, glad you like it – really appreciate your words… 🙂
Great pics! Looks like my brain (but I didn’t have anything to do with designing the tracks) 🙂
I love train travel, and I love mental stimulation. That’s why my life is one creative project after another, and why I like visiting your blog. _Resa xo

Thanks a lot – I believe you’re right, our brains are a lot of intricate tracks – some more than others… ‘hahaha’ 🙂 😉
🙂 😉
That first photo is really something else.
#.cardinal guzman
I almost didn’t believe it would work because of the light or lack of light, but at the very last try so…. 🙂 🙂
