Recalling (colored) flashback

01 22

Memories are sometimes a bit funny and sometimes they change through the years
some things we forget consciously or unconsciously
other things we remember as memories because we have heard them told so many times
whatever then the memories affect us for life, for better or worse
our memories are a part of an equation – a trinity, interpreted best by Victor Hugo.

Intelligence is the wife, imagination is the mistress, memory is the servant
(Victor Hugo – french author)

Some memories are a bit sorrowful, it couldn’t be otherwise
this old bakery store that has been closed for many years
it was heaven on earth in the eyes of a little boy, who was born just across the street
the old baker’s wife was so sweet and kind and her husband baked some delicious cakes
in a subtle way, then a vintage car sneaked in – the photo is taken a couple of years ago.

By the way talking memories, every one remember the first love of their life “LINK“.

Sometimes it’s a bit funny to recall the so-called good old days… 🙂

They never come back, but we must not see them as waste of time… 🙂

Glad you like it, really appreciate your words… 🙂

  1. Great post! A clever analysis of the concept of memory… I like very much your quote from Victor Hugo (what a fantastic, great writer!). Ciao Drake.

  2. Very nice 🙂 post and sometimes memories makes me a little sad because I miss it and it can’t come back but than I realise I’ve still a good memory about it and I can let it come back whenever I want………….

  3. Beautiful, touching and endearing take on the theme, Drake. And I love the quote you have found – haven’t heard before but will stay on the back of my mind for sure – just shouldn’t mix which was the wife, and which – mistress and the servant. 🙂
PS: I am sorry there was no challenge last Sunday. I have been on the road constanty for almost 2 weeks but I promise the challenge will be back this weekend again.

Really appreciate so much that you like it – thanks a lot… 🙂

As I read the quote of Hugo, so “all 3 women” easily can be the same person and I believe there are more than 3 rules included in such a relationship – and I believe it’s both way including this from a women view “Intelligence is the husband, imagination is the lover, memory is the servant“… 🙂 🙂

Memories are a important part of our life and without them, we can’t change into being better – memories are things we have learned from, yeah maybe we can call them “past moments ofeducation”… 🙂

      • Oh, I am sure there are so many rules could be included in that relationship but it’ s so much better to have no rules at all. Or to have them just “melted” in the daily routine and not so much routine that they aren’ t perceived as rules anymore. Though I can’ t deny I like the way you and Mr.H have put it 🙂

Memories are precious and so much a part of oneself. True, of very various shades, reminding of different moments in the past, still…important.

        • I am not in favor of rules in the ordinary sense, such as “the rules say” – but “rules can also be imaginary” – thus reasons why – many of the things that happen to us are derived from things we have done – consciously or unconsciously – the rules of nature we could call them… 🙂

Sometimes we have to take a chance and give someone something without no guarantee of getting something in return – which is very difficult for modern human.. 🙂 🙂
