At the threshold of the good old days in the danish city of Ribe
many buildings in the cityscape were built as similar farms were in the countryside
with a gate as a threshold into a closed area
these ports were that time business card or brand image to the outside world.
The southernmost part of the danish West Jutland
and the northernmost part of the german Schleswig
the danish-german Wadden Sea has a number of small water canals and small rivers.
This allows flat-bottomed small boats can sail into a number of cities from the sea.
Also in the city of Ribe, it allows stepping over the threshold by the back door.
One of the smaller non navigable city waterways.

Really so glad you like it, an area with a lot of atmosphere… 🙂
Really don’t know how safe the little bridge is… 😉
Ribe looks quite charming.

Rigtig spændende by, Ribe og meget dejlige billeder, Drake.

👿 😀
Very interesting post! I admit that I know almost nothing of Denmark, I’m sorry 😦 so I’m very happy to see pictures of your country and to learn something about it. 🙂

I believe I’ve been here? Very briefly, on one of my day trips, and many years ago.
I don’t think it would change too much 🙂

Ribe is located in the western part of the southern Jutland
– not far from the danish-german border… 🙂
A very interesting area both historical and the nature… 🙂
I think I did it on a visit to Billund. I remember a Danish train ride 🙂
It doesn’t sound wrong – Billund isn’t far from Ribe… 🙂
But the weather was a little like my Glasgow weather 🙂 Maybe just a bit better.
Not unusual that the weather in Scotland and Jutland are comparable… 😉

Ribe is a wonderful city and it is fantastic to see it again here. I did not see the canals when I visited. Are they hiding behind the main streets?

There is one waterway through the city of Ribe called Ribe Å (river) – it has some tiny water channels that carry water to the river too – the city has emerged along the river which is “Intregrated” in the city… 🙂
