Yeah a show tune from a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical – Carousel from 1945 – .the song’s most successful cover was released by Gerry and the Pacemakers in 1963 – became at that time the anthem of Liverpool FC and a bit later their friendship club in Scotland *Celtic Glasgow* did the same… 🙂

When those two clubs meet in friendly or serious matches – so there’s an amazing soumd among the crowd on the stadium – and friendly mood… 🙂

The is named Shankly Gate (Bill Shankly, the man who bring back the club in highest level in the very early 1960s – just next there is created a memorial monument to the 96 supporters (awful many young people) who lost their lives at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, England in 1989 – initially the police and other authorities gave the supporters all the blame themselves – but hard pressed so the truth emerged that it was the police who caused the disaster – nearly 25 year later some of them probably get punished… 😦

So this place means a lot to people in Liverpool,
everyone in the city knows someone who lost life there.
