View from an abandoned french fortifications in the Vosges mountains
apparently left alone while the big wide world lying in wait outside.
Alone is not necessarily similar solitude – but do acknowledge, caveman I’ll never be.

Two possibilities exist, both are equally terrifying.
Either we’re alone in the universe or we aren’t

  1. Reminds me of a similar fortress near Besancon a friend and I explored not too long after the war. We entered from the rear, and eventually exited via the barbed wire-blocked front entrance to discover a large sign – DEFENSE D’ENTRER – DANGER DE MORT – MINES! Your picture reminds me of a narrow escape.
