The danish city of Sonderborg by night, seen from harbor-side.
My inspiration comes from wonderful “Restlessjo” and her “Monday walk” themes.
Photos from one day last summer – spending some days sailing in this area..
Actually spent some childhood time in this area many many years ago.

Open door or open bridge, earlier years ago, it was a railway bridge too.

The cattle enjoy fresh water, but don’t drink it coz the salt in it.

The summer city party call for tons of happy people into the streets.

The young drumming boys in sailor suits follows the girl with the baton.

Modern architecture in a place which earlier was a heavy factory area.

The local mermaids (which actually and surprisingly had legs) were teasing a lot.

The peacefully border water between danish Sonderborg and german Flensburg
it can be enjoyed on an about 38 km long idyllic coastal route.

Probably others have the same ideas, so take a break here and there..

Maybe it look like a sunset, actually it’s a sunrise.
Reblogged this on O LADO ESCURO DA LUA.
It does look idyllic, Drake. 🙂 I remember this lovely place from previous posts. Maybe one of those modern apartments? Not really my style but I could walk for miles and gaze at boats. Paradise 🙂 Many thanks for sharing and your kind words.

I spent about 10 years of my childhood and youth in this area, actually on both sides of the border – means still a lot to me – the population there is a model for all border regions – historically they have been through a lot – even very unpleasant things, but still positive about each other – the only other place I know with the same setting it’s Alsace / Elsaß… 🙂
So many lovely photos! My favorites are the cattle drinking from the water, the young men in sailor suits, the lovely mermaid, and the boat at sunrise/sunset. I have a thing for the sea 🙂

Agree you are right, sometimes it’s not easy to see if it’s a sunset or sunrise – so glad you enjoyed this ‘walkabout’ in this area which was one of “my childhood places”… 🙂
Looks wonderful Drake. Love the cows in the water, almost like they are walking on it. 😉
A beautiful place to go walkabout, Drake. Gorgeous sunrise capture. 🙂
The first picture is just incredible. I love Denmark, and visited at least 2 times a year. Now it has been a while, due to that I have not lived in Norway. I have been to Sønderborg as well, and love the city! Can be recommended to everyone! 🙂
Great post, especially the capture of the cows! Stunning! 🙂
Cool post 🙂 I agree that Sønderborg is a lovely place – especially in summer time when you can go so many places to enjoy the watery scenery.
We write a blog in English about Sonderborg at hejsonderborg.dk if anyone should be interested.
