Hospitality across the river

K 71

My inspiration comes from wonderful “Restlessjo” and her “Monday walk” themes.  Down by the river across to the german neighborhood on the other side of the river Rhine.

The river Rhine is the borderline between German and France here.

When strangers start acting like neighbors, so communities are reinvigorated” *Ralph Nader – american lawyer

Breisach am Rhein a town half between french Colmar and german Freiburg.

Sculpture in the middle of the town of Breisach am Rhein.

A symbolic visualization of the good relations across the river Rhine
between the french region of Alsace and the german state of Baden Wurttemberg.

Go a bit more east – the countryside next to Breisach am Rhein.

Großen empfang in den kleinen ländlichen restaurants genannten “Gasthof”
(Extremely well received at the small rural eateries called “Gasthof”)

They have fresh escargots ready if french guests were to visiting them
but also many other things such as real german Sauerkraut (“sour cabbage”).

6 tanker om “Hospitality across the river

  1. Just got time to fit in a stroll with you before I go walking, Drake. 🙂 Another fine-looking place. There’s a large cow sculpture on the river banks at Durham, not unlike this. Made me feel right at home. 🙂 Many thanks for joining me again. I’ll come and check on the rest of your week later. 🙂

  2. Beautiful pictures and very interesting post! Thanks Drake for sharing so many things. I learn much from your blog and I also travel … even if in a virtual way. 😉 🙂

  3. Enjoyed this stroll. So much beauty here. My favorite images were the 4th – bridge leading into what I think is the museum – and the birds eye view of friendly relations along the Rhine. Agree with Amy. These images scream tranquility 🙂
