Old days just passed

S 05

History appears sometimes unexpectedly out of the smokescreen.
Here in the english countryside on the border between Lancashire and North Yorkshire.

  1. Nothing like a good old steam train. Of course they were still current when I was a child, and I was born in Crewe with the biggest railway junction ever, or something like that. My other half tells people I was born on the footplate of Crewe locomotive. Oh the smell of burning coal!

  2. Great shots – really brings them back. Was dragged unwillingly to school by such engines during the War. There was a poster at the railway station which proclaimed:-“Is your journey really necessary?” Imagine a schoolboy’s reaction – but the engines made it acceptable.

  3. Det er en skønhed, der dukker frem af røgen, Drake. Jeg har det ligesom Resa 🙂 Dog er det længe siden, jeg har været oppe på en hest…meget længe siden 😀
    Rigtig god aften,
