Modern oldtimer

In ancient times this form of travel was less comfortable than today.
Now it is an attraction for maybe especially people with urban daily living.
Often toddler families or grandparents on holiday with grandchildren.
The speed is in sensible steps, so there is time to enjoy the surroundings
– the horses are experienced and usually decide which speed when to take a break.

Slow relax biking would be a lot faster, but holidays are holidays these people says..

  1. In England, every June, the owners of such vardoes congregate in Appleby, Cumbria, for a traditional horse fair. Many of them make their slow way there on a route which passes our house. We’ve so missed seeing this traditional pilgrimage – so thanks for this little reminder.

    • When I see horse-drawn carriages on the roads like these, then always thought that not much was more relaxing – and every time no doubt the horse was the boss. 😀
