Vibrantly old-fashioned

Ancient cities can sometimes seem cluttered and out of date.
It is often unfounded because these cities were founded in a different time.
Looks today more or less as it did in the 16th century due to careful preservation.
Riquewihr, a very nice town in Alsace, with lots of charm.

One of the very few towns in the area not to be badly damaged during World War II.
The town is surrounded by its medieval fortifications
and is overlooked by a castle from the same period which is today a museum.
