Somewhere in the North Atlantic autumn of 2011 – a rather fresh breeze
where the nearest land was the southwestern Norway far away
had an external task for the shipping company and sailed a trip aboard one of their ships.
Just to learn how their world look like.
Maybe seems like snow, but is airy sea water.
The inspirational “kick” to find back to the old photo in the “attic”
it came from always worth visiting Amanda’s blog “Something to ponder about”
“Interislander Ferry ride from Hell..no wait, Wellington” – yeah from New Zealand.
Wow! That looks scary and amazing at the same time!

So glad you enjoyed this view – yeah isn’t it fascinating… 😀
Yikes! I would need copious amounts of dramamine and whisky to endure that. Very invigorating to look at though.

The ship’s crew were both impressed but also disappointed – they had looked forward to getting a seasick landlubber as passengers on the ride – didn’t happen… 😀
The sea is very impressive when it’s in the mood… 😀
That looks absolutely frightening to me!
#.sue slaght
It was up and down most of the time… 😀
Scaring but wonderful!

So glad you enjoyed this view… 🙂
We always have to be respectful to the sea
– otherwise it’s really dangerous indeed… 🙂
An image filled with energy.
#.colline
Amazing and very impressive how much energy there is in the sea… 🙂
The power of the sea is amazing!
#.carolyn
Agree and we have to behandle it with care and respect… 🙂
Indeed I do. I love the sea.
Like the wind and the sun, and all the natural powers, they are so incredibly powerful. They ‘command’ respect… 🙂
Agree and when we do so, then it’s an amazing platform… 🙂
Amazing picture and a bit frightening… I prefer to sail on a calm sea. 😉

You are not alone, I guess many feel that way
– admit I like waves just a little bit… 😀 😀 😀
How exciting!!!!
#.cindy
It was, I still remember… 😀
WOW! That really is something…gives all new meaning to the “waves lapping the shore” 😀
#.ese
Yeah challenge and seamen are a part of the same story in situations like this… 😉
Increíble experiencia con el mar embravecido, mostrando todo su poder! Impresionante foto… me hubiera gustado estar ahí.
Un abrazo muy marinero !!!

Yeah it’s so fascinating, glad you enjoyed the view… 🙂
Waving in waves for you, big hugs… 😀
Wonderful photo, Drake. You look like you are in a gigantic washing machine. It looks a bit too rough for me, weren’t you a little bit scared at all? (and thanks for the shout out)
#.amanda
Thanks a lot, so glad you enjoyed the view… 🙂
Actually I wasn’t scared, but very excited – have always loved to sail and ideally with waves that “rock’n roll” a bit… 😀
Must be the Viking in you?
Talking vikings so a funny story is that I have a very good friend who believes a bit in reincarnation (I do not know how seriously) – he claims (with a smile) that he was Italian doge words princely in a previous life – while he claims I have been norwegian or danish Viking – and would have robbed and devastated in both England and northern France and discovered Canada (Newfoundland) before Columbus discovered America – I’m not a believer… 😀 😀 😀
There must be some remnant Viking DNA there somewhere in you, but this friends seems to be taking it a tad too far! I have read that if you can trace your family tree back over 800 years you could potentially be related to everyone. If that is the case, I will be a Viking Queen to King Harald bluetooth please!!! LOL!!
Agree with you… 🙂
By the way I believe you was a good queen back there… 😀 😀
LOL! Maybe servant to a queen!!!
😀
Hey, I hope you did not forget your swimsuit, did you ?
#.yaycip
Not a moment I thought about jumping in… 😀
You dizzy ! or may you not like sea bath, may you not ?
Really love sea bath, always have – crazy about both sea bathing and water sports… 😀
that comes with duck identity. So…you took the bath nude obviously, you ducky man !!! I can imagine you flying across waves, plungeing and diving, swiming between those water wall like swallow with building in the city. 😀 😀 😀 😉
aside my …insistant jokes. Duck are associated with bad weather, are they not ?
Not to the point your magnificent picture shows though.
I give up with my joke.
‘hehehe’
There isn’t such a thing called bad weather, is there… 😀
About bathing, I guess you can keep a secret… 😀
Every year a week or two so I mountain biking – mostly the Alps or the Pyrenees – up there sweating a lot we often swim in those lonely mountain lakes – not an eye seen around so it’s done naked – wonderful, often a bit cold but wonderful… 😀
I’ll never talk about it – too bad for the eyes, wild animals at bath are a godities present for them. 😀
Anyway, be careful with those lake, I can remember the blue of a lake with névé ( permanent snow) coming in – blue lake on the rocks… I almost died after 3 brasses.
You have a good point, never stupid when we take care… 🙂
Looks scary to me. The capture is amazing, Drake!

Quite a fresh wind, so glad you liked the view… 😀
Your wonderful photo and the NZ blog piece brought back memories of a trip taken with my family in 1963 from Lyttleton South Island to Wellington – an overnight over 10 hour trip in the roughest of seas – respect indeed for ships and seas and the sailors.
#.windhound
Yeah now I have to try it – even more… 😀
Really appreciate your words… 🙂
Sweet shot! 😎
#.resa
Yeah nice small waves… 😀
